At some point in ancient history, tidal waves swept the Hātokawa. Several early settlements were destroyed, including the temple-city of Yonataorei, now seen below the depths on a clear day.

The Birth of the Yasei
As conflict raged across Ikaiguchi, the natural world got caught in the crossfire. In the wake of the largest battles, wandering disciples planted trees and attempted to fix the world. These people would eventually become the Yasei.
The Kotoba
Following his battle and subsequent return, Tengoku Amare is said to have spent time among his followers, teaching them of the struggle between light and darkness, and his role in between. His teachings were recorded in the Kotoba.
Hana no Meiro
The maze of blossoms; a place as deadly as it is beautiful, for the bodies of those who fall in exhaustion in this maze are swiftly consumed by the plants that give the maze its name.
Ashishō
This cavern is frequented by the Aranami, who use it for smuggling. Within the twisting cave networks, carved stone pillars make the wind howl in strange tunes.
Sekai no Ibuki
A bone white tower in the northern Taikakabe mountains, many know this near-inaccessible place as the
home of the Shin’rei Arashi, though none have seen her there.
The Night of Falling Stars
All of the astrological records agree: there was a night when the stars fell to earth. This seems to correspond to an event in the legendarium of Ikaiguchi: the battle between Tengoku Amare and The Eye of the Moon.
Massacre at Sakantera
Sakantera is the oldest historical site that commonly appears in myth. This temple is known to be devoted to the Shin’rei Junrei, and is one of the earliest burial sites in history.
Calling the Shin’rei
The Kotoba, the first ever history, marks the beginning of Ikaiguchi as we know it at the arrival of the Shin’rei, and the beginning of the Endless War.
The Legend of the Norowareta
The earliest historical records show repeated struggle on the part of the the inhabitants of Ikaiguchi. Burial sites suggest one common foe for many of these early peoples. They have become known as the Norowareta.
