Cave networks infest the depths of Ikaiguchi, hollow passages only emerging in valleys, or, like Ashishō, in coastal cliffs. This Cavern of Reeds is a natural sea cave utilized primarily by the Amarani. Within, islands of marble and quartz rise from the icy blue tidal waters that swell to fill the cave. Beyond the knowledge of the Aranami, though, is the full extent of the cave. Winding passages lead to the underground smuggling network of the Kumo, who will do anything to avoid giving the emperor a share of their profits.
Despite its name, there are no naturally growing reeds to be found within the cavern. The reeds it draws its name from are, in fact, stone pillars that cause the wind to whistle an eerie lament throughout the chambers when the north wind blows, unsettling the bats and people within alike.
