Emperor Yoshimura Mitsuhide

The Emperor of Ikaiguchi

On the evening Yoshimura Mitsuhide came screaming into the world, it is said the most devout priest of each of the seven Shin’rei shared the same vision: a gleaming, golden dragon snaking across the night sky for but an instant, chasing away the darkness. When he was five years old, Yoshimura could already speak eight languages. By the time he was twelve, he had mastered all three forms of the Talon from his Ukigumo swordmaster. An attempt on his life by a half-dozen Kuraironin, or dark ronin, on his eighteenth birthday left the assassins dead and Yoshimura missing a finger on his right hand. Beyond this, little is known of the Emperor himself. He cultivates a cloak of mystery that is impossible to pierce. Some speculate that he does not in fact exist, and that his legend is a cultivated by the ruling classes so they might maintain control of the populace.

Description

The Emperor is said to be a tall man, but not overly tall; he is handsome but not exquisitely so, dark of hair and keen of eye, sporting an intelligence that can overwhelm all but the greatest scholars. His every movement is perfectly calculated, and when provoked to violence, he is swifter than lightning and more explosive than any volcano.

Chosen Weapon

When forced to defend himself, the Emperor fights with his daishō, a matched pair of long and short swords that have been in the Mitsuhide family for generations. It is said the blade of the longer sword can cut through any material, while the shorter blade can turn away any magic.
