Hone no Jōsai

Chapel of Bone

The Second Age is all but lost to time. Few recall its story, even though the world is filled with the scars of its violence. One such symbol is Hone no Jōsai. This bone citadel stands as a reminder of the sheer scale of death: all throughout the citadel one can see the skulls of the fallen, their femurs and tibias forming braces and other supports, their rib cages and finer bones a declaration writ across the ceilings of the chapel at the citadel’s heart. This is one of the most frightening places in all of the lands, for surely the spirits of all the dead who went into its construction know no peace.
