Kinomama Glade

A glade of Yasei shrine-trees

No tree, no matter how well attended, lives forever. Beyond the clan houses, in the deepwoods of the Yasei, lies the Kinomama Glade of the deadwoods, the place where trees rot and die.

But these trees live. With a special resin, the Yasei have enshrined their vitality within their bark, meaning that they neither grow nor wither. With careful artisanship, their Grove Guardians have inscribed and carved the trees so that their beauty might live on.

Most of them are carved into animals or figures from legend, but sometimes it is as simple as hands clasped together or reaching up to the stars. Many of these Kinomama take on symbolic meaning as a resting place for the lost, and so the Yasei come and morn, under the countless eyes of the forest.
