The Hātokawa is a great channel that divides several islands from the mainland. Its famously unquiet waters are sacred to the Aranami, for it connects them to their ancient home.
Anaketsu
This sea cave gleams with blue ice, is a twisting underground labyrinth, and is said to retain the spirits of those who speak within. None of that stops the Aranami smugglers.
Night of the Feather Blades
Emperor Daisetsu wished to return to the days of trade with other nations. He thought to marry off his three daughters to foreign nobles, but his daughters rebelled and ultimately had him murdered on the Night of the Feather Blades.
Takeo’s Bravery
The six shoguns who ruled Ikaiguchi installed a puppet emperor to govern in their name, but soon began warring among themselves, tearing the land apart. In the end, his bravery saved it.
The Shogunate Rebellion
After using their influence to undermine the emperor’s rule, six treacherous shoguns eventually attacked the imperial palace and proclaimed themselves the new rulers of Ikaiguchi.
The Fall of Josuke
Josuke Sorano was only 6 years old when he was crowned emperor. He was a poor ruler, hedonistic and self-absorbed, and this led to his eventual downfall.
The First Sorano Period
Benjiro Sorano became the first Emperor of Ikaiguchi and ruled wisely for 25 years, until his death. For over a century his line was strong, until one descendant’s weakness brought calamity.
The War of 5 Daimyo
The War of Daimyo was a conflict between five powerful lords that dominated different parts of the land. A cunning ronin named Benjiro Sorano played them off against each other and ultimately became the first emperor of united Ikaiguchi.
Banishing the Shin’rei
As the casualties of war piled up, the truth became clear: the Shin’rei would destroy the world that they had once saved. A group called the Hisuideshi intervened in order to save Ikaiguchi.
The Yoake Period
The Yoake Period began after the Ritual of the Iron Oak at Tetsu-Ōku and marks the start of the Third Age. After decades of peace, greed led to factions vying for control. This eventually led to all-out war.
